Emotional Atmosphere at the Grünwalder Stadion
A week after the opening match against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 (2-2), TSV 1860 Munich had their first home game since being relegated to Regionalliga Bayern.
1860 Munich Dominates the First Half
The Löwen were carried by the electric atmosphere at the sold-out Grünwalder Stadion - and repaid the fans with a dominant first half. After a tense quarter-hour, Florian Niederlechner narrowly missed out on a clear chance in front of goal.
Augsburg Finds Its Rhythm Before the Break
In the 31st minute, Niederlechner's shot from twelve yards was saved by goalkeeper Tom Heinz Wisbereit. Six minutes later, Raphael Wach failed to capitalize on a well-worked counter-attack and hit his shot wide of the post.
Augsburg II Secures a Point Against 1860 Munich
The match became increasingly competitive as both teams created chances in the second half. Despite being outplayed for much of the game, Augsburg II held on to secure a 2-2 draw and a valuable point.
The FCA II is now on three points from three games, while 1860 Munich will be disappointed to have missed out on the win. The Augsburger are next in action at home against DJK Vilzing (August 14, 18:00), while 1860 head out to face FC Memmingen (August 14, 19:00).
