Florian Plettenberg reports that Augsburg and Crystal Palace have made progress in negotiations for defender Chrislain Matsima. The two clubs met on Monday to discuss the details of the transfer. It is expected that the Frenchman will join Augsburg for over €30m. Matsima remains in Bavaria, as he has not yet received clearance to travel to England for his medical. The talks are not yet complete, but a deal seems likely. Crystal Palace must still satisfy Augsburg's financial demands before Matsima can receive clearance to finalize his Premier League transfer. Matsima has already agreed to a verbal contract with Crystal Palace and is eager to complete the move. The Bundesliga leadership is currently 43 points behind the leaders of Bayern Munich. Augsburg has scored 36 goals and conceded 53 in the current season, resulting in a goal difference of -17. Their next match is on February 6, 2027, against Bayer Leverkusen as the away team. Augsburg currently stands 10th in the Bundesliga table with 33 points from 29 games, having won 9 matches, drawn 6, and lost 14. The current season is not yet over, but Augsburg has already set its goals for the 2025/26 season and is working to improve its performance.
