Augsburg demands everything - Cottbus shows great morale

Augsburg won 2:0 against Energie Cottbus in the DFB-Pokal, but the Cottbusers showed great morale. Anton Kade and Kristijan Jakić scored the goals.

The Cottbusers had dreamed of achieving a similar DFB-Pokal upset like last year. Back then, the third-division team had knocked out the second-division team Hannover 96. Although the season opener for the second-division team was uneven, the team of Claus-Dieter Wollitz was confident against the Bundesliga team - not least due to the powerful backing of their own fans.

That's why Augsburg's coach Manuel Baum had a curious method in training: He played the loud chants of the Cottbuser fans, "so everyone knows what's coming for us". Baum also warned about the opponent: "They really have quality and the huge advantage that they already have two games under their belt."
