Augsburg has permanently signed Michael Gregoritsch after a successful loan spell. The 32-year-old striker played a key role for FC Augsburg in the second half of last season and was signed from Bröndby IF in Copenhagen. The club activated the purchase option and has given the Austrian international a one-year contract until 2027, which can be extended to 2028. Gregoritsch had previously played for Augsburg from 2017 to 2022, scoring six goals and assisting three others in 17 appearances during the last season. He has now scored a total of 35 Bundesliga goals and needs just two more to equal the club's record scorer, Alfred Finnbogason. Sporting director Benni Weber praised Gregoritsch for his strong performances and leadership within the team. The player himself expressed his happiness about the club's trust and the opportunity to continue playing for Augsburg.
