FC Augsburg recently secured their Bundesliga safety with a 1-1 draw at home against Eintracht Frankfurt, a crucial result that has reignited goalkeeper Finn Dahmen's World Cup dreams. The shot-stopper, who successfully achieved the club's season goal of survival, is now openly discussing his hopes for international selection.

Following the draw against his childhood club, which extended Augsburg's Bundesliga status to an impressive 16 years, Dahmen stated, 'Of course, I’m hoping to go to the World Cup. But, in the end the national team coach makes the decision. I feel good, I’m in good form and they know what I can offer.'

National team coach Julian Nagelsmann has included the goalkeeper, who celebrated his 28th birthday last month, in each of the last four international breaks. Despite these call-ups, the Wiesbaden native is yet to make his debut for the German national team.

Reflecting on FC Augsburg's achievement, the former Mainz player added, 'We’re happy to have secured survival. But, of course, we really wanted to win today. Before the winter break, we set ourselves certain goals and now we’ve achieved them.' This highlights the team's collective effort and Dahmen's satisfaction with their season's outcome.

The successful campaign ensures Augsburg's continued presence in Germany's top flight, providing Finn Dahmen with a strong platform to further impress national team selectors. His consistent form and the club's stability are key factors in his pursuit of a World Cup spot.
