When Energie Cottbus faces FC Augsburg in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, FCE coach Pele Wollitz will recall the special circumstances of the match. Energie's current situation, with the promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, can be compared to the time when the club was relegated from the 1. Bundesliga. It was 2009 when the FCE had to reorganize. Now, this must be done again. But the situation is much more positive than it was back then. What is interesting is that Pele Wollitz took over the coaching position at Lausitz in the summer of 2009. The first opponent in the former stadium of friendship was FC Augsburg on the first matchday. The Energie fans were ecstatic on the stands. And they witnessed how young players from their own youth finally got a chance in the first team. Among others, players like Alexander Bittroff or Nils Miatke played. Energie then won 3:1 against FCA. In the following season, they met the Fuggerstädter again in the 2. Bundesliga. After that, the paths of both clubs diverged for a very long time.
