FC Augsburg's youth teams face a demanding schedule with multiple competitive fixtures and tournaments this week. While the first team sits third in the Bundesliga after a 2-2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, the U23, U17 and U16 sides are all in action.
The U23, known as the Feulner team, travel to face Wacker Burghausen in the Regionalliga Bayern on Saturday, 19 September, at 2pm at the Flatbuy-Stadion. Just one point separates the two sides in the table. "The two teams are separated by only one point in the table, so we can expect a game on equal terms," the team said. Augsburg's U23s had already picked up a point against FC Bayern München II earlier in the week and sit in 7th place with 11 points from 8 games, while Burghausen are 6th with 12 points.
Second English week for U17
Meanwhile, the U17s are undertaking their second consecutive English week. On Wednesday, 16 September, they played away to 1. FC Nürnberg at 7:30pm at the Sportpark Valznerweiher in the DFB youth league. Just four days later, on Sunday, 20 September, they host TSV 1860 München at 2pm at the Sportanlage Gilching. The U17s won their last match 3:1 and are in a good run of form.
The U16s, coached by the Spindler team, celebrated a 3-0 win over SpVgg Unterhaching on Monday evening. On Saturday, 19 September, they face an away match in the U17-Bayernliga against 1. FC Nürnberg at 12pm at the Paul-Renz-Akademie.
The younger age groups are also busy. The U15s play at 1860 München on Saturday at 3:30pm at the Sportanlage Grünwalder Straße in the Regionalliga Bayern. The U14s are participating all day in the U14-REWE-Cup in Bretten. The U12s have a match in the Förderliga Buli-NLZ at SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday at 12pm at the Sportzentrum Kleeblatt and are involved in the next125-cup in Herrieden on Sunday. The U13s play a friendly against FC Astoria Walldorf on Sunday at 1:30pm at the Paul-Renz-Akademie.
The first team is preparing for their away match at Werder Bremen on Saturday. After three matchdays, Augsburg are third in the table with seven points and a goal difference of plus six. The season's top scorer so far is Michael Gregoritsch with three goals.
