While behind the scenes the squad planning for the new season is in full swing, coach Manuel Baum has presented his Top-Elf-Prognose for FC Augsburg. The formation includes Finn Dahmen in goal, Chrislain Matsima and Calvin Brackelmann in defense and Jeffrey Gouweleeuw as captain. Dahmen is the undisputed number one in goal and will remain so, provided he extends his current contract. Matsima was immediately indispensable after his transfer to FCA in 2024, but a long-term thigh injury kept him out for months last season. Brackelmann is the prototype of a modern defensive midfielder: enormous height combined with outstanding, progressive passing skills. Gouweleeuw is the captain, the absolute veteran and the undisputed heart of the Augsburg defense.
