Konrad Laimer is missing from the Bayern Munich squad for the Bundesliga derby at FC Augsburg. The Austrian midfielder's absence is due to the birth of his child.

The German record champions announced the news ahead of Saturday afternoon's match. "Konrad Laimer has become a father and is therefore not in the squad today," FC Bayern Munich said in a post on X. Laimer had featured in Bayern's first two league matches of the season before missing out injured prior to the international break.

Derby win as a blueprint

The fixture in Augsburg marks the start of a period featuring nine games in roughly four weeks for the Bavarians. For FCA, it's a chance to build on their surprising win from January. Back then, Augsburg won 2:1 in Munich, Bayern's only defeat in their last 47 Bundesliga matches. The most recent meeting, however, ended in a 2:2 draw just last weekend, with R. Fellhauer and R. Ribeiro on the scoresheet for Augsburg.

Augsburg enter this period sitting sixth in the table with eight points from five games. Jess Thorup's side travel to face ninth-placed SV Elversberg in their next fixture on Tuesday. The current Bundesliga standings are available at standings.
