Augsburg suffers heavy loss in England
The FC Augsburg has suffered a heavy loss in their pre-season friendly match against Leeds United. The Augsburgers were defeated 0:4 (0:3) by the Premier League side.
The Bavarian team was flown to England for a short trip to face the challenge. After landing in Manchester on Friday evening, they continued to Leeds the next day. The team of German coach Daniel Farke had already shown a strong performance in their preparation, winning test matches against Liverpool (4:2) and RB Leipzig (2:0).
What happened?
The FC Augsburg lost the friendly match against Leeds United with 0:4 (0:3). The Augsburgers conceded the 0:1 goal after less than 60 seconds through former Mainzer and Hoffenheimer Anton Stach. A spectacular fall-back by Tarik Muharemovic led to the second goal for Leeds (19), shortly after James Justin increased the score to 3:0 (29) from the perspective of the home team.
What comes next?
The FCA must draw lessons from the defeat in the coming week, before facing the challenging cup task on Saturday (13.00 Uhr/Sky) in Cottbus. Eight days later, the Bundesliga season will start with a home game against promoted Schalke 04.
