The FC Augsburg goes into the last week of the summer preparation with a long to-do list. The 0:4 (0:3) defeat in the Generalprobe against Leeds United was a setback for the Swabian Bundesliga team. «We had expected a completely different result», said goalkeeper Finn Dahmen after the defeat on the island. «There are many points we need to work on before the next week.» The FCA is on Saturday (13.00 Uhr/Sky) in the DFB-Pokal against second-division newcomer Cottbus. Coach Manuel Baum was particularly critical of the defensive behavior of his players and recognized a pattern throughout the entire preparation. «What was noticeable in the games: We have too easily scored goals», he explained, «and there were too many. That's a topic we need to work on.» ## Premier-League-opponent overruns the Bundesliga team Already after less than 60 seconds, Augsburg conceded through the former Mainzer and Hoffenheimer Anton Stach the 0:1. A spectacular fall-back by Tarik Muharemovic caused the second goal of Leeds (19.), shortly after James Justin increased to 3:0 (29.) from the perspective of the home team. «The grip in defending has disappeared from us in the first 30, 35 minutes», complained Baum. «And we were mega-foggy in the attacking third.» Keeper Dahmen scolded his teammates on the field. «That's not our claim, we were partially overrun», said the goalkeeper and described: «It was about not completely falling apart.» Shortly before the end, the former Wolfsburger Lukas Nmecha scored the 4:0 (83.). ## Coach Baum: «Take the right lessons» The result then reduced the overall experience in the Premier-League stadium at Elland Road in northern England. Coach Baum tried to see the positives nonetheless. «Despite that, it was a very important experience for the players, playing against a team that has a really high level», he said about the opponent of the German coach Daniel Farke. «We take it sportingly and look at the right lessons to be drawn from it.» After the tricky Pokal task Cottbus, the start of the Bundesliga on August 30th with a home game against promoted Schalke 04 is on the agenda. The FC Augsburg currently occupies the 9th place in the Bundesliga and has collected 43 points in the last season. In the current season, they have scored 45 goals and conceded 61. They are 46 points behind the leaders Bayern München. Their last game ended with a 0:4 defeat against Union Berlin. Their last two games ended with two defeats. Their next game is on December 12th against Borussia Dortmund.
